Their goals include making sure that policy and ethics of highest standards govern the athletic programs at all times. They work to develop good sportsmanship, good character, citizenship and physical and mental well being for the youth athletics. Through the scholarship fund, youth that may not be able to participate in sports will be given an opportunity to do so.    The goals of the Spring Valley Tailgate & BBQ Festival Committee are:    * To raise money for the youth of Spring Valley who would not otherwise be able participate in sports programs that teach children responsibility, teamwork, commitment and that give them an opportunity tobe productive when they are not in school.    * To build a sense of community and local pride for the citizens and local businesses in Spring Valley.    * To revitalize the neighborhoods of Spring Valley as a place to raise families in a safe environment, operate businesses and promote the beautification efforts of our local volunteer agencies.    * To enjoy a fall day in Spring Valley with great tasting BBQ, games and activities for families, listen to live local music, and support our amateur BBQ teams.    We hope to have thirty amateur BBQ teams participating in this year’s competition. The teams will be competing in five categories: Pork Ribs, Tri-Tip, Chicken, Carne Asada and Best Decorated Tailgate Team. We will also be looking for various vendors to participate in this event. Rules and applications for both the amateur BBQ contest and vendor booth rentals are enclosed. All vendors and amateur BBQ teams must have their forms submitted by October 3, 2011.  The Spring Valley Tailgate & BBQ Festival is the perfect opportunity for local businesses and organizations toshow their support for the community and promote their business through the different levels of sponsorship that are available.
